PUBLIC NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that the Wilson County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Wilson County Commissioners Meeting Room, 2201 Miller Road, Wilson, NC. This is for public input on local community development and needs in relation to the Community Development Block Grant/Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) and any other CDBG programs funding for a project in our community. The Wilson County Board of Commissioners anticipates submitting a CDBG-DR application in 2017. The proposed CDBG-DR will address 40 Wilson Housing Authority units located in the 100 year flood plain adjacent to the Hominy Swamp Canal on Norris Boulevard, Hyatt Drive, Starmount Circle, Poplar Street and Phillips Street. These units were flooded during Hurricane Matthew. New units would be built outside of the flood hazard area on Banks Street, Walnut Street and Dew Street. Rebuilding these units will keep affordable housing available to this community. The total estimated cost of the entire project is $5.5 million. Citizens will also be given the opportunity to provide oral and written comment on use of CDBG-DR funds. All interested citizens are encouraged to attend.
