ATTENTION

Effective July 1st, 2024, there will be an increase in Residential and Commercial Fees. These will apply to all fees paid for after the above mentioned date. If you have questions, you may ask to speak to the Chief Inspector, and he will be glad to answer any questions or provide any insight into the fees that you may have.

If you are constructing a new dwelling, please be sure that you have obtained a zoning permit prior to obtaining a building permit. Once your zoning permit has been obtained, the next step will be to contact Environmental Health (if on a septic system) to get the appropriate paperwork needed for the project.

Inspections are to be scheduled through our online portal (OpenGov). The link for the portal system is posted on Wilson County’s website under Development Services. OpenGov allows contractors/homeowners to submit electronic permits, send direct comments to the Inspections Staff, pay fees, and monitor the status of your permit.

Questions about your inspections can be directed to the inspector who completed the inspection. Inspectors now have office hours. The inspectors’ office hours are 8:00 am – 8:30 am and 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
