Caring Mission
Welcome to the Wilson County Department of Social Services website. If you are visiting our site to learn more about the Department of Social Services, you may be surprised to learn that we provide services to over 25,000 customers each year, which is almost one-third of Wilson County's citizens. Our mission is to seek positive tranformative wellbeing for families, children, and adults through the delivery of services in a professional and caring manner.
Compassionate Results
We seek to accomplish this mission through the achievement of results that matter most to our county's citizens. Those results include helping bring about children to live in safe and stable homes, families with children to become economically stable, seniors and disabled adults to live in safe and secure homes, youth that spend their last years of childhood in foster care to become successful young adults, and to maximize resources to achieve quality results with the highest degree of integrity. It is through this effort that we believe we are leading by results.
Committed to Wilson
We are committed to serving the citizens of Wilson County. Our services to customer generate over 136 million dollars in federal and state revenue that is spread many times over within our county's economy. For the past five fiscal years, our Department has maximized better than 99% of available federal and state revenue. These revenues have gone to daycare centers, our local hospital, health care professionals, grocery stores, etc. to help pay for the care and well being of children, families, disabled adults, and seniors. This is very important to our local government budget because for every federal and state dollar that is maximized, a local county tax dollar is saved.
