Wilson County DSS has Teen Parenting Programs available to assist pregnant and parenting teens to help them stay in school and graduate.
Goal: Teen parents graduate from high school, on time, with intentions and plans to further their education.
Programs Serve: Pregnant or parenting teens in public school in Wilson County, ages 13-20
Our Teen Parenting Programs Provide:
- Intensive case management working one-on-one with a social worker
- May include a home visiting program using an evidence-based curriculum.
- Monthly group meetings on various topics based on the needs of the teens and their children
- Transportation to medical appointments for teens and their children
- Child Care Subsidy assistance for teens currently enrolled in public school.
Career Planning
- Career planning for future education goals after high school
- Financial literacy and budgeting
Parenting education
- Help with parenting skills and daily baby/child care routines
- Learning about emotional health and child safety
- Focus on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being
Sexual Health
- Encourages healthy choices about relationships and birth control
- Provides information to prevent repeat pregnancies
- Provides information to reduce the spread of STI's and prevent STI's altogether.
