What is the FNS Employment & Training Program? 

The Employment and Training (E&T) program gives people who receive Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) the chance to gain skills, training or experience that can lead to long-term employment and higher wages. Each person will work with an employment specialist who will help guide them toward their job goals and encourage their desire to build for the future. 

Program Services

Career Planning: Discover in-demand careers tailored to your skills and interests. Benefit from coaching, assistance in identifying growth opportunities, and goal planning.

Job Search: Navigate the job market confidently. Utilize services like job search strategy guidance, resume building and review, and interview preparation.

Training for In-Demand Jobs: Quickly earn recognized credentials and experience in fields like welding, forklift operation, mechanics, IT, nursing assistant, and more.

Student Support: Access FNS E&T services on your community college campus for academic support, including English as a Second Language (ESL) or General Educational Development (GED)  coursework, career counseling, and financial navigation.

Financial Support: Receive assistance for various needs, including transportation, work clothing, testing costs, and more.

Continued Support: Even after securing a great job, FNS E&T stands by you, providing ongoing support for a smooth transition and growth in your new role.

Eligibility

  • Customer must be a Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) recipient;
  • age 16 and over;
  • and a Wilson County resident.

Referral Process:

  • Anyone can refer to the program. 
  • Contact the E&T Social Worker to apply.
